How a Stars giveaway works

You buy a pool for the whole giveaway: 500 to 1,000,000 Stars in fixed packages. Telegram splits the pool between the winners equally, and we sell the giveaway so that each winner gets at least 100 Stars. So the package also caps the number of winners: 500 Stars cover 5 people, 2,500 cover 25.

How to run a Stars giveaway in your channel

We pay for the giveaway for your channel. Such a giveaway is prepaid: it doesn't start on its own, a channel admin launches it.

Open the channel in Telegram, then Statistics and the Boosts tab. The paid giveaway waits there. Any channel admin can launch it, no special rights needed. At launch the admin sets the end date and decides who takes part: all subscribers or only new ones, from any country or from selected ones.

On the end date Telegram picks the winners at random among eligible subscribers. Telegram credits the Stars to the winners itself. Neither you nor we influence the draw.

Giveaway rules: who takes part and what the admin sets

Channel subscribers take part: no bot, reposts or comments needed, Telegram checks the conditions itself. Admins of the channels running the giveaway can't take part.

  • End date. The admin sets it at launch, and Telegram won't accept a date too far ahead.
  • New subscribers only. Then only people who subscribed after the start take part.
  • Countries. The admin can limit entry to selected countries.
  • Partner channels. The admin can add other channels, and participants must join all of them.
  • Extra prize. The admin can describe an additional prize, and Telegram shows it in the giveaway post.
  • Public winners. If the admin turns this on, Telegram posts the results in the channel itself.

How many winners to choose

The pool is split equally. 2,500 Stars for 5 winners give 500 Stars each, for 25 winners 100 each. We can't fit more than 25 people into this package.

To reward more subscribers, take a bigger package: 10,000 Stars split between up to 100 people, 1,000,000 between up to 10,000. The calculator won't accept more winners than the package holds and shows the limit.

Don't set more winners than subscribers who meet the launch conditions: “new subscribers only” and selected countries shrink the audience.
